Amid the crowd at a J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference reception, Alice Zhang got in front of Biogen Inc.'s then-chief medical officer, Al Sandrock, and told him about her startup focusing artificial intelligence and machine learning on finding better drugs for brain diseases.
The coupling of human neurological data and next-generation technologies to select better drug targets, Sandrock told the co-founder of Verge Genomics Inc. in so many words, is exactly where drug discovery is going.
